About BadTransit

Welcome to BadTransit.com.  We are by, for, about, and in deepest sympathy with commuters who attempt to use Boston’s only public transportation agency, the MBTA.  If you’re already an MBTA commuter, welcome aboard.  If not, you might reconsider your transportation options after reading some of our pages.

Our web site has changed a great deal since we began in 2001.  Started by two frustrated and longstanding T commuters, BadTransit was formed to embarass the MBTA into cleaning up its stations, trains and buses.  Since the early days BadTransit grew quickly, expanding its features to include news (some of which we gathered and reported ourselves), photo features, guest editorials and columns, and our still popular “Commuter Spotter” section.

This new web site trims down the content and brings greater convenience to participants.  You can post comments to our Commuter Spotter Reports, our Reports From the Field, and News Items without joining.  Posts by unregistered users are moderated, and therefore may take some time to appear.  Members may post freely.

Our “Commuter Spotter” section provides reports from our network of BadTransit Commuter Spotters - regular MBTA commuters who, like you, suffer through their treks.  They then share their experiences for all to read.  We also provide “Reports From the Field” which are comments from readers who wish to remain behind a cloak of anonymity.

Wish to contribute your story?  You may do so by sending an email to .

In these crazed and paranoid times, critics of public transportation systems are under significant scrutiny, yet commuters and MBTA employees continue to participate with us to fulfill our early motto: “To Reveal the Filth Below”.  You, our readers and participants, are the true heroes.  It’s clear to us that you care deeply about public transportation and know that Boston has a long way to go.

Let’s keep moving forward as we try to turn the Most Broken Transit Agency into something that we can all take pride in!

Yours in BadTransit.
